You're not starting. Either you're not good enough to start, or your coach believes someone else needs to in order for the team to succeed. Or maybe your attitude has been terrible and you don't deserve to be in the lineup. I'm sick of seeing all these kids that feel like they are entitled.
Nothing is given to you. In order to get something you want you have to work. It's life! Most people don't fall into their dream job. Most people have work and pay their dues to get where they want to be. Our society has turned into an 'all about me' society. It's turned into entitlement. It's turned into a lack of work ethic. It's turned into participation trophies because it isn't fair for the best player to get an award when the rest of the players get nothing. It's turned into parents bad-mouthing coach because their kid isn't playing, which results in kids pouting and having bad attitudes. Sure, every parent wants their kid to play. They're supposed to want that. They also have to understand that their kid spends more time with their coach than they do anyone. Coaches see sides of these kids that don't get seen at home. Coaches want these kids to succeed as much, if not more, than the parents do. Coach is here to win. It's the coach's job to put the best lineup out there that will help accomplish that. Give him/her a reason to put your name in the lineup. Until then, pull for your teammates. Pull for them even if they're playing your position. Pull for the TEAM's success, because it's amazing what can be accomplished when no one cares who gets the credit! Do you ever see championship teams complaining about who got the win on the mound, or the pinch-hit walk-off hit? No. You see THEM celebrating WITH EACH OTHER because THEY won! THEY all worked for it. THEY earned it.
